Group Sales Director, Cloud & Digital Workspace Solutions

The DataSolutions team recently returned from Disrupt23 Munich, IGEL Technology’s three-day EUC event packed with industry-leader presentations. We cut our teeth at technical bootcamps, explored an expo of the leading vendors in the cloud desktop ecosystem, and collaborated with industry thought leaders and partners in one space to share knowledge and discuss new and emerging ideas in the digital workspace world.

The COVID-19 pandemic changed our working patterns beyond recognition, resulting in a highly distributed workforce. Work is now defined by what we do rather than where we go to do our work. Alongside IGEL, the DataSolutions team has been embracing this new digital working world and helping our partners to navigate the modern workspace.

One of the key takeaways from Disrupt23 was how, in this new landscape, we make our security smarter and our workspaces more cost-effective and manageable. We should always be looking to the technologies that are outpacing the changes to our working world and keeping us ahead of the curve.

IGEL COSMOS

We know that you’re eager to hear about the event’s key announcement: IGEL COSMOS. This new, secure endpoint platform has fully separated the IGEL OS from its validated and integrated local and cloud-delivered apps.

IGEL COSMOS represents a fundamentally new approach to digital workspaces. Crucially, IGEL has put security at the heart of its platform. With COSMOS, IGEL has introduced unprecedented levels of security, flexibility, and performance to its platform, minimising the endpoint attack surface and enabling secure, managed access to any cloud workspace – including applications, VDI, DaaS, and SaaS.

COSMOS is made up of three core elements:

  1. IGEL OS - OS12 is the secure, easy-to-manage and scalable endpoint device operating system designed for accessing any digital workspace. The OS is lean, efficient, and prioritises the end-user experience.

  2. UMS 12 - This is the management and control system central to COSMOS. UMS 12 makes it easy and seamless to manage and control up to hundreds of thousands of IGEL OS-powered endpoints. The system can manage endpoint devices hosting either IGEL OS 11 or IGEL 12 to provide additional flexibility for IGEL OS 11 customers.

  3. IGEL Cloud Services - Complementing the OS and UMS, IGEL Cloud Services are a centralised and secure cloud-based array of value-added services that expand the capabilities and improve the user experience for both IT teams and end-users, for all IGEL OS-powered endpoint devices. IGEL’s Cloud Services will also help organisations to improve the cost-effectiveness of endpoint management.

Some of the initial services included are: onboarding, app portal, insights, licensing portal and support portal. A growing range of other secure, cloud-based services will be introduced in the future.

Keen to learn more? On March 22 we’ll be hosting an event in London for our partners to share all the key announcements from Disrupt23. We’ll give our partners the complete lowdown: details of COSMOS, IGEL’s upcoming plans and priorities, and the most relevant takeaways for partners.

As always, please reach out to the DataSolutions team with any questions about IGEL and COSMOS. We’re happy to talk through the new platform with our partners, work with you to understand this new system, and outline how its full potential can be realised for your customers.
